Ulverston Town Council

News Release. March 24 2020

The town council meetings are cancelled for April and May, together with all of the councils committee meetings. Council has also taken the decision to cancel Civic Sunday and the Annual Town Meeting. The Mayor will still make awards from the Mayors fund raising during the year. The Annual Report will be available on line in May. These decisions have been taken by the Council’s executive committee comprising the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Leader and Deputy leader of both parties and their deputies and the chair of the emergency resilience group, together with the clerk.

Cllr Sharon Webster will remain as Town Mayor for 2020/2021 and Cllr Amanda Rigg will remain in post as Deputy Mayor for 2020/2021

All VE day events are cancelled, although the Mayor will lay a wreath privately on May 8th to commemorate this important anniversary.

The town council has produced a list of shops and businesses that deliver from home, are supporting the Ulverston Covid Volunteer group by enabling volunteers to collect ID passes; assisting the Food Bank by signing vouchers and have a small quantity of emergency food supplies.

The town council can also confirm that all of its 7 allotment sites will remain open together with the public conveniences in the Gill, which are thoroughly cleaned daily. It has also been agreed that whilst the monument will not open at Easter, it will be lit in blue for the next few weeks to support and thank the NHS and Blue Light staff

The office is still staffed and we will do our best to help all callers. 01229 585778.
